Merge Games will bring the action-adventure stealth video game to the Team Handheld this February. Aragami is coming not just a standard but a very special edition to the Nintendo Switch users out there because it’s coming as the Shadow Edition.

This game was rumored for the console last July 2018. Then, last August 2018, the developer Lince Works and the game publisher Merge Games officially announced Aragami: Shadow Edition. It was scheduled first in Fall 2018. However, both game companies have announced that the Switch version will be delayed until early 2019.

Here’s the official announcement of David Leon, the Studio Director of Lince Works as he shared the reason behind the delay via Nintendo Life below.

“The work done by our porting partners, Stage Clear, so far has been truly fantastic. But we all agree that with more time for testing and polishing we could ensure a much more solid experience. We’re in no rush so it’s best we just move our release by a couple of months. Plus, most of you are all still busy playing that new cowboy game anyway. ”

You play as the Aragami, a vengeful spirit with the power to control the shadows. Yamiko has summoned you one night. She’s a captive in the city fortress of Kyuryu by the Kaiho, a group of light adepts. Yamiko describes the group as the oppressors who conquered the land from Nisshoku. After the winning the war, they imprisoned the Empress and her servants in the main temple of the Nisshoku. Her request from the Aragami is to help her to set them free before you will be gone if the sunlight touches you.

Use your supernatural powers to create your own shadow. Move from one shadow to another shadow as you seek and hunt some of your enemies. With your unique supernatural power, use it the various Shadow Powers creatively to eliminate the enemies around you. Of course, the freedom in terms of your gameplay is here. There are multiple paths and scenarios available on the game so choose wisely. You can play either a merciless emissary of death or an undetectable ghost, the freedom is all yours, folks. Yamiko might be the one who opens the door to your past.
