A Message Straight From the Series’ Director
Sincerest thanks to all of you who’ve supported Bayonetta over the last ten years. Today is a momentous occasion for me, and it’s all because of your tremendous love.
Bayonetta was my very first title here at PlatinumGames, and I went into it with a lofty goal – to make the best action game I possibly could. I poured my all into the game with that feeling firmly in mind.
Now, ten years later, as I look back on those development days, I see peaks and valleys, good times and bad. But our staff pulled together through it all and, working as one, I think we managed to pull off something truly miraculous.
To everyone who’s been involved with the Bayonetta series, and to all of the Bayonetta fans who’ve helped us get here: Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I hope you’ll follow Bayonetta’s adventures, and continue to love and support her for years to come.
— Platinum Games Director Hideki Kamiya —

Game History
The game was originally released for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Japan and was later on released in the West in January 2010. After four years, PlatinumGames developed a sequel for the game titled Bayonetta 2, designed for Wii U with its Japanese release in September 2014 and worldwide just after a month.
In 2017, an improved port for Microsoft Windows was released with 4k visuals support. And finally, Bayonetta made its way to one of the current-gen consoles in February 2018 and that’s the flagship console of Nintendo Switch.
Since then, Bayonetta has been one of the gaming community’s favorites praised for its combat, presentation, and soundtrack, but was criticized for its story and quick-time-events. Nevertheless, the game has been awarded and nominated for various end-of-the-year accolades and had sold over a million units globally by 2010.
With its massive global success, a third game, Bayonetta 3, is currently in the works and is set to arrive exclusively on the Nintendo Switch console as well with no release date as of the moment.
